DaySpring is a traveling camp ministry that creates opportunities for churches to discover youth in their communities, for local volunteers to serve as leaders and takes camp to under-served populations who otherwise may not get to experience camp.
Local churches offer a new ministry for children and youth in their community. This traveling camp model allows local churches to provide a new ministry for children and youth in their community. Spring Heights Camp and Retreat Center resources them with promotional materials to distribute.DaySpring sites have reported that anywhere from 25-75 percent of the campers who attend DaySpring are new to their church! The pastor leads short morning devotions each day, which puts campers in a direct relationship with a pastor in their community.
Local churches provide volunteers who are trained according to Safe Sanctuary Practices and have been background checked. These volunteers form meaningful relationships with youth in their community. We hope that because of DaySpring Camp, these young people know the church is a safe place for them to belong and that there are adults in their lives who care for them.
Spring Heights provides trained staff, Bible Study curriculum, games, crafts, and songs. There are at least three summer staff trained in First Aid/CPR, American Camping Association practices and policies, as well as the West Virginia Conference Safe Sanctuary policies! One summer staff person is the DaySpring Coordinator, who designs programming for the week.
All of these fantastic pieces create an outstanding program!
